Wheel scrolling very rapidly in Outlook

Hi,

When I use my wheel on the mouse to scroll down messages I view in Outlook I
get a horrible artifact: The scrolling starts off slow, and then suddenly
goes about 5 times faster, spinning you past where you want to stop.

I recall that Internet Explorer did this stupid thing as well, and what you
needed to do to turn it off is turn off "Smooth scrolling" in the Advanced
tab. ("Smooth" (ha ha) scrolling - now thats a misnomer!!). Is there any
such setting in Outlook.

Thanks,
Alain

If you have intellipoint, go to control panel>mouse>wheel>wheel
troubleshooter. follw the directions there. It has helped me in the past.

Hi Robert,

You misunderstand - I'm "inside" a long message, and when I use the wheel to
scroll down the text of the message, I get this wierd scroll artefact. I'll
try reposting to make that clearer.

Thanks,
Alain

I would suggest simply "finding" your message.....this way you do not need
to mess around scrolling....but if you are looking for a particular email
simply search for a rlating word...i am not sure about scrolling.!

Thanks for that answer.

That started to look really promising. I followed the instructions through
once and it worked beautifully - it actually stopped the horrible "fast"
scrolling. However, when I closed the message I was looking at, and opened
another message, the problem was back.

I've also tried turning off "Enable accelerated scrolling" and turning off
Intellipoint software for Outlook - nothing makes a difference. It always
has this accelerated scrolling after an initial short period of smooth
scrolling.

I even tried rebooting the machine with it all turned off! Didn't help...

Any further ideas?

Thanks,
Alain

2 thoughts:

eliminate the mouse as the culprit if you have access to another wheel
mouse. (they do go bad quickly enough... lol)

control panel>add remove software> remove the mouse software and reinstall
from mfg'rs disk

or system mgr and update drivers

You don't need to repost. It was clear, the guy's just a stupid ****wit.
