You might have loaded some driver or tool for your mouse that you could
have possibly configured to cause a double click.
IIRC there are places in windows that allow for 'single click activates'
meaning it forgoes the double click.
I guess in a odd way (odd to me) you might have done all that. But
windows is basically a 2 click systems except for hyperlinks and the
quick launch tool bar.
