What's Up with Ad-Aware?

Stu

My old copy of Ad-Aware would no longer automatically update itself so
I went out yesterday and downloaded the current version (SE1R115
18.07.2006) to find it is now part of the Google Pack. Anybody know
when this happened and what Google does with this information?

[The Google pack includes: Google Earth, Google Desktop, Picasa,
Google Toolbar for Internet Explorer, Google Pack Screensaver, Mozilla
Firefox with Google Toolbar, Ad-Aware SE Personal, Norton AntiVirus
2005 Special Edition and Adobe Reader 7 with the option of adding
Google Talk , Google Video Player, RealPlayer and GalleryPlayer HD
Images. There is an option to remove any software you don't want/need]

look in this newsgroup.. this has been discussed
a few days ago

I poked around lavasoftusa.com just now. Could find /nothing/
explicit on the site nor in the forums saying that it's "free for
personal use." Now I'm a bit confused as well...

It's still free. Nothing's changed I've installed it a couple times just
this week. Exactly the same as before.

Where did you download your version?

AdAware can be downloaded:
http://www.majorgeeks.com/Ad-Aware_SE_Personal_d506.html
http://www.lavasoft.nl/support/download/
http://www.lavasoft.com/support/download/
etc.

If the update doesn't work, you can download
the latest definition file at:
http://www.majorgeeks.com/Ad-aware_SE_referencefile_d726.html
http://www.lavasoft.com/
http://www.lavasoft.nl/

There is no need to download the Google Pack just
to require AdAware.
(there is no need at all to download the Google Pack.)
