What's the Purpose of Copy in Views?

I cannot understand the purpose of Copy in Views?
For example, I did the following:
After clicking on Define Views from the Views menu it
shows one of the views as Hide Read Messages.
Definition. Where the message has been read Hide the
message. Ok, that makes sense.
Now, I click on the Copy button and the new view title
is, Copy of Hide Read Messages. Again the definition is
Where the message has been read Hide the message.
But then I realize that only Copy offers underlined
values that you can edit.
So, I change - has been read to NOT been read.
I also change - Hide to Show.
And guess what? I get the same results. Only New messages
can be seen in either view. So what then is the purpose
of this Copy feature anyway?

It's to make it easier to create complex views.

Did you apply the correct view to the folder? Show the Views toolbar to make
it easier to know which view is applied.
