My motherboard doesn't support AGP or PCI-e. This is the motherboar
I have
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?&cc=us&docname=c0036157

Right now I'm using it's onboard 128mb memory

Can you guys suggest some good PCI video cards that ca
significantly perform better than m
current onboard one
My system specs
512MB ra
3.06 ghz P
200gb harddriv

Monitor
NEC Multisync LCD1735NXM (It has both VGA and DVI

On reading the specs, it's obvious this mobo is designed to be use
with it's own on board video. I would want to take a close look a
this, as you may find it's better then any current PCI video card

The only thing I really remember seeing on PCI is a Radeon 7200.
have to believe the onboard is better then this

It surprises me as well. I built a Biostar mini for a socke
"A." Even it had AGP and extra molex connectors fo
outside power

I sure hope you didn't have gaming in mind when you bought this

Best of luc

Nope, I'm not into gaming
It's cool then. Thanks

I heard DVI will give the screen a better look. Too bad the mob
doesn't have a DVI out

Not necessarily, it more depends on the monitor itself, then it doe
the actual connection

I've seen monitors that look better in VGA, and some better in DVI

I have a set of Viewsonic X gamer panels and they both look goo
either way. I wouldn't sweat it

What about my LCD mon? It's NEC Multisync LCD1735NXM. Do you know if
VGA just looks as good as DVI?

I wouldn't know. Play a DVD on it and see what you think. It's abou

There are pretty decent video cards out there for PCI still, maybe
getting a little old now, but still better than some onboard. At
newegg.com there are a few NVIDIA FX5500 with 256mb of ram or 128mb of
ram. Also there are some FX5700's or LE's, not sure, but you can check
those out.

I'm new to this. How do I know which ones are better than my onboard
one? How do I compare? Is it the more ram, the better?

You did say you're not a gamer. Don't worry about a video card. Thi
onboard graphics will do fine for you. If this is this much of a
issue, you shouldn't have bought the thing in the first place

Most likely, but you're not needing an expensive card for that, but
normal PCI cards are alot more expensive compared to their AGP and
PCI-e counter-parts. If you want to improve your dvd playback, I'd
just recommend going with a good old FX5200, this one is fanless, so
thats an added plus, and it should improve your dvd playback.
