Re: SR1500NX Powersupply / PCI Express
Compaq Presario SR1500NX Desktop PC - Product Specifications

I need to buy a Video Card. Belarc nor HP lists the Power Supply. The
requirements are a 305w Power Supply.

The HP Specs here do not list my original specs with the power supply.

Also the Video card requires a PCI express compliant motherboard and open
PCI Slot. I cannot find the specs here on HP nor with Belard Advisor.

How can I find these specs online for the Presario SR1500NX Desktop PC?

Which Video card is best? I have never bought a Video Card. Both are $35

Chipset
GeForce 7300 LE. The LE is a PCI card

Or Chipset GeForce MX. The MX is a AGP card.

GeForce 7300 LE Video Card, PCI Express, 128MB

Or AGP

GF MX4000 Video Card, 8x AGP 128MB DDR

I did not know if there was a difference
in the LE or MX technology on the 2 different cards.

Thank from New Orleans.

New Orleans Novice:
Your motherboard has an AGP slot does it not? So make sure you purchase a
graphics/video card designed for AGP. Forget about PCI Express.

Why don't you take a look at this one at newegg...

It's in your price range and at that price its a decent video card. You do
understand this is not for "heavy-duty" gaming, right?

You mention 3 different card connector types. PCI-E, PCI, and AGP.
According to the weblink your provided, you have 3 PCI and one AGP slot, no
PCI-E slot(s). Therefore, PCI-E type cannot be used. AGP is faster than
PCI, get an AGP type. But, what type of AGP slot is important as well.
There's more than one. Not mentioned in the link.

However, this mentions 8x/4x AGP type. (copy the whole link, then paste to
your internet browsers address bar)
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...us&lc=en&dlc=en&product=472140&dlc=en&lang=en

Also, the motherboard defaults to the onboard video processor. You have to
modify the bios user settings to use an add-on card for video.

You may have to remove any video related control software if installed,
first. Change to default PCI card in XP, which is appropriate is noted if
you boot to safe mode. Change the bios as previously noted. Install the
video card. Boot to XP, then installed the driver software for the new
video card if needed. Don't forget to move the monitor's video cable to the
new video card. Refer to the monitor's input cable for the type of
connector needed on the new video card, yours in not DVI. All this is easy
to mess up, you may need experienced help.

The open PCI slots are showing empty from the back so there would be no
reason to open and view. And the big ? is PCI express which also has to
match a 450w power supply.
Thanks.

You are correct so I will buy a new PC with PCI e and and a PCI e Power
Supply

Thanks

New Orleans Novice

It does have an AGP but the PCI e card has later technology.
A new PC will fix the questions.

Thanks for your time

I will test the new AGP card this weekend while cooking gumbo.

Thanks for the detailed reply.

I am making movies about Katrina in New Orleans but Pinnacle needs a later
VIdeo Card.

You are right about the gaming but I hope it works for movies to publish to
You Tube with WMM and Pinnacle.

Thanks for the web links.

Are these movies about Katrina too sad? Should I delete them?
