We Live for the One we Die for the One

I heard the Abit NFS-7 is the best or a baord with a similar name,
dont realy want that becuase my Zalman 7000A cooler wont fit on it :(
any other board as good one i can lock the PCI and AGP buses and such
other overclock freindly things.

What barton do i need ive read that there are two types week whaterver
ect what one do i need and can i tell without taking it out of the box
?

Just want the one thats easiest to overclock :)

Also Once is overclocked can it realy be as fast as a 3200 ? and be
the same as it ?

Thanks.

Also reccomend the ram ? pc 3200 right, brand ? or should i get 3700
for alittle bit more overclock want to be sure to get 200fsb and be
stable.

Thanks again.

I have an A7N8X-Deluxe..not sure about clearance though..and buy an
MP2500..they use less voltage and supposedly clock out like crazy..I have an
unlocked Barton2500 running at 10.5 x 200 mhz..can run higher but this is
the best setting for me to get max bandwidth on my ram.

erm.. a7n8x-x with a 2500xpm using decent hs and decent pc3200 ram will take
you to 3200+ and beyond dependant on cooling.

Not "MP", that stands for multiprocessor - they're more expensive and you
gain nothing from that. The low Voltage CPUs are _Mobile_ processors, ie.
XP-M - anything with a major stepping IQYHA or later should do circa 2.5GHz
100% stable with good cooling. I have one XP-M 2500+ at 13x200 for 2600MHz.

Wow, so there are (good ol' google :) )
http://www.microstorm.com/hardware/parts-brand-amd-page-1.html
"AMD ATHLON MP 2500 384K CACHE SOCKET A 333MHZ FRONT BUS 2.13MHZ
UPC: 030143452602 SKU: AMSN2600BOX"

OK, so we have:
1) Athlon MP 2500
2) 333MHz FSB
3) 2.13GHz (assuming MHz is equavalent to GHz :) )
4) SKU AMSN2600BOX

So, there's various possibilities:
1) XP2500: Contradicts 1, 3 and 4
2) MP2600: Contradicts 1 and 2
3) XP2600 (Barton): Contradicts 1, 3, and 4
4) XP2600 (166MHz TBred): Contradicts 1, 3, and 4
5) XP2600 (133MHz TBred): Contradicts 1, 2, and 4

I'm *guessing* it's a MP2600, as that's the only condition under which two
pieces of information in this quote actually match :)

And for many of their processors listed in that search result,
when you go to the page for that processor, the specs totally
contradict the "headline".

Take a look at
http://www.microstorm.com/hardware/partinfo-id-804344.html
for example.

The headline says it is a 333 MHz FSB MP2500, but the
specs say it is an ordinary MP2600+.

I wouldn't buy from a place like that. The have screwed up
their web site in so many places that I wouldn't trust them
to ship me what I *thought* I was buying. In the case of the
link I provided, if you try to buy that you really have to
wonder if they are going to ship you an MP2600+ or a
Barton XP2500+.

Blaedmon,

I have this board and chip with 256meg Kingston Value ram pc3200. I
am at 200mgz fsb x11.0 with memory at auto in bios. Its pretty stable.
My question is, what is the maximum amount of pc3200 memory (single or
double sided) that I can use and which brand is the best at the lowest
price? Thank you in advance.

Marko, Im not sure of the exact number of sticks you can use on the a7n8x-x
but I'd assume 3gigs worth - a gig each in every slot. the asus.com website
wil tell you more exact info. As for RAM brands going from the top would
look something like: 1. corsair 2.giel 3. kingston 4.samsung. Of course I'm
no expert on ram grades but we're talking stability here. Corsair can handle
anything and geil is its cheaper but just as tough little brother ;)

Where does "crucial" fit in here. I thought it was pretty good as well, not
as good as Corsair, but not far from it.

Well I don't know about wuts "best", but I have a A7N8x-Dlx with a
Barton 2500+ @ 200 FSB, making it work as a 3200+, with stock cooling.
The strange thing is that I have a 512Mb Corsair pc2700 on it (made
for the 166 MHz FSB) and it's rock solid... oh well.
