Speed of XP2200 vs Barton 2500?

I recently built a new PC with Asus A7N8X mobo and an Athlon XP 2200+.
The CPU clock speed is 1.8 MHZ. I hear that the newer Barton 2500 can be
easily overclocked and is a much superior chip. But I see it has the same
basic CPU clock speed, 1.8 Mhz. So does this mean that if I replace the
2200+ with Barton 2500, the performance will be the same until I bump up the
clock/ FSB options in the BIOS? I haven't gotten any CPU performance
boost out of the existing chip, as I think it is locked....and I need a
little bit faster performance to get my Flight Simulator frame rates up a
bit higher.

The 2500 Barton has a 333 FSB (166 X 2) vs the 2200"s 266, and the Barton
has double the L2 cache. Although the clock speeds may be the same, the
performance of the Barton is better.

All Barton 2500+ chips have a higher cache (512kb) than the XP 2200, thus
even though it has the same clock speed, it is faster.

I have my Barton 2500+ clocked at 2.1Ghz without any problems, thus giving
similar performance to a XP 3000.

The XP2200 is unlocked, just bump up the multiplier a half step or 2.
