What's good about wireless optical mouse?

Ironic how he should use the name of an endangered bovine as his handle,
isn't it, when he obviously cares so much about the planet?! Bet he voted
Dubya!

stfu, lurker treehugger.

Exactly, Kony.

Yak (ironic you should name yourself after an endangered species of bovine,
when you obviously care so much about the planet...)

Batteries contain sulphuric acid amongst other things, which has a pH of
around 1 (i.e. it's very corrosive). Spent batteries have to be incinerated
because they do *NOT* biodegrade (if you buried a battery today, and then
were able to come back in an aeon or two, you'd find it looked exactly the
same as it does now, except that it might have rusted a bit and the acid may
have started to leak). Unfortunately, incineration isn't ideal because it
adds to the causes of acid rain (can you imagine what all that H2SO3 does to
the clouds) not to mention the fact that, the reaction between water (that's
H2O) and sulphuric acid is very violent.

But, if you don't mind all this, we'll gladly use your back garden as
landfill (I think the planet might protest though).

multiple posts for the same point? again, **** off.

I just don't care.

I'm all for the Yuma mountain project too.

Quite untrue, if you didn't care you'd not have posted.
Your care is overridden by ego but that in itself IS a
care... that you're too ignorant to see how it effects you,
too, will someday be a bruise to that ego in ways you can't
fathom today.

The link?

It's just a matter of unscrewing screws till the weight is
out.

Sorry, Dave, didn't read. I weighed the 510 and it's 120g (which means the
batteries were taking up 50g or nearly a third of the total weight) and the
weight is only 13.5g (according to the article) does it really make that
much difference?

"That much" is relative, it made no sense to me to push
around an extra weight constantly unless you just wanted the
exercise?

I've found that mice which are too light are harder to control. I've
got large hands though, that might make a difference.

Could be, though it might depend on how you're used to using
it... I move mine with only thumb and ring finger, minimal
to no wrist movement at all. That does require a fairly
high DPI sensitive mouse though... but these days all that
means is anything better than Logitech's cheapest/lowest
optical series.

I find that strains my hand and causes pain within a couple days -- I
generally move the mouse with a combination of my arm, and wrist
(although I avoid wrist movement, but it's needed for fine control)

I don't. Mine stopped growing around 21 years ago (when I was 7!)

The only disadvantage of optical mouse:

Try flinging it really quick left and right and you'll notice the cursor
doesn't go full length on the desktop as it should. I am still using a
cordless ball for this reason cuz I game a lot. Yes opticals are accurate
if you don't move em too quick.

To avoid dust and gum on the ball, buy a 3M mousing surface. I haven't
cleaned my ball (singular) for 3 years and there's no gum on the rollers
when I checked.

An optimal mousing surface can help anyone, though modern
optical tech (like Logitech MX series) has made great
strides to reduce the "flinging" problem you mention.
Comparing a 3 year old basic Logitech 400DPI mouse to an MX,
they're quite a bit more accurate and less prone to jump
around.
