Whats going on this board

Whats up with all the people in here taking shots at one another? I've seen
people post multi-page rants about people, its getting a bit annoying and out
of hand. Where is MS through all this? Please remove these posts, no one
wants to see them.

I am also tired of all the anti Microsoft posters here, what are they trying
to accomplish? The grass isn't always greener on the other side guys, if your
not happy with this lawn go somewhere else you're not wanted here. Critisim
is fine but out and out rants are just annoying and wasteful. I have also
seen people in here who work for Microsoft's business practices. These people
work FOR MS they don't make the business decision, just like you don't in
your job. If you have a problem with MS talk to Bill Gates or the corporate
board.

In closing, these boards are for discussion of Vista, not for your petty
personal grudges! I am not saying that Microsoft is perfect (name one
corporation that is), but they are better than most (do a little research on
Wal-Mart). If Linux is your cup of tea, then go drink it! I have identifed
a few of the trouble makers here and will not respond to any of thier posts,
I encourage all of you to do the same.

This ng is absolutely congenial compared to a lot of the forums I have
visited. I would call what you are seeing as give-and-take. You want
flaming, try some of the AOL chatrooms! The ranters are usually pretty much
left to themselves here (some folks respond and keep it going). Trolls
always come and go.

I visited a forum today on Sunflowers to get peer support for an issue
involving Anno 1701 (brand new game). The problem I asked about was when a
signed driver for Vista x64 might be available (the game won't run on Vista
x64 because of it). The first reply was "no real player is concerned with
Vista." It went downhill from there. Now that's real congenial.

When I commented about how hot my MacBook Pro was running on the support
forum on Apple.com, the Apple moderator removed my thread entirely. I
suppose I tried to be too cute by posting a script for a mock 'I'm a Mac...'
ad that went [PC guy sipping an iced tea, "I'm a PC"; Mac Dude sweating
profusly and fanning himself, "I'm a MacBook Pro."]

No, I find this ng quite congenial.

Kindly define "anti Microsoft" so at least I could know your standards and
if I am the one should disappear.

And by the way, how do you know many of us don't make "business" decisions
for the companies we work for or own?

Ron--

I think your rant is off base. Many of us who launch constructive criticism
of MSFT know MSFT software and MSFT as well as you could ever dream to. We
also compare other software. You are equating anti-MSFT and criticsm of
features in a product, often Windows Vista but not confined to it. Sometimes
it's the MSFT policy of working with the Chinese government to help them
persecute and harm people in significant ways when they are very well aware
that turning in MSN searches will cause that. There are plenty of Chinese
Americans on the Redmond campus to get that idea accross to Sinofsky, Ozzie
and the Windows platform and MSN chiefs like Debra Chrapaty and Yusuf Mehdi
who ignore this cruelly and irresponsibly.

Anyone can paint an erratic brushstorke and appoint themselves as an arbiter
of taste as to what goes up. Apparently you have. Enjoy your self appointed
office.

We don't care who is in here as to MSFT Biz Practice, Jim Allchin, anyone up
in the heirarchy, PM or the two senators from Washington. It's not our job
to worry about that.

As far as greener grass, you'd be ridiculous thinking many of us here can't
sample all of it and decide for ourselves how valid and competent any of it
is.

You are free to post whatever you like, and of course ignore whomever you
want, and you can start a bus tour accrosss your country if you like. You
are protected by an amendment that was throttled today with not much left of
it, the First, by a ruling on a Supreme Court stay by Justice Ginsberg and
the NY Times's sources, but your use of the imperative issuing commands to
people is quintissentially inapprorpriate.

If you have a problem with this group, why not you "talk to Bill Gates" lol
who is far more concerned with going after an HIV vaccine or the "corporate
board" when they meet next year or email them individually.

If you think there are significant problems, email Brad Smith VP and General
Counsel. I'm sure he'd be delighted to hear from you.

Many of us are not pushing an agenda for Linux or Open source or Apple or
Solaris or an HP OS or many others, but we do think it's important at the
high school level for people to be exposed to some of these.

I believe this NG is good
Where ever contructive critisism is posted there will always be alternative
views that makes us all individuals.
I believe Windows Vista is a great product which I'm very happy with,
however as with all great products I have yet to see something that is
perfect and because it's not perfect there will always be critisism this
doesn't make people MSFT haters. It is unfortunate that people turn to
personal remarks towards others but you find those people on most
unmoderated forums.
My overall opinion is that I'd rather be a part of a newsgroup that isn't
moderated,

This is a newsgroup to support users of windows vista so that they can get
technical help and share their opinions on the new operating system.

It is not a newsgroup to promote Windows Vista nor is it a platform for
personal abuse but we all have to take the good with the bad, negative
posters that don't offer anything positive and only complain rather than try
to help others usually don't stay around for long.

Ron,

This board isn't so bad... as others have pointed out... some other boards
are much, much worse. Try going into any Mac board and talk about Windows or
dump on Macs. For some real flame war action, drop into a Linux NG and
politely post some newbie question or take the plunge and say Linux ain't
all that great. Then run for cover.

Yeah, there are some malcontents on this board. They're the folks who just
never have a good thing to say, don't use Vista at all, and are just dopes.
Ignore them. Then there are others who may not be MS cheerleaders but add
value through extensive posts to assist others.

I have to admit... I get sucked into stupid threads by trolls... trying not
to do that these days, but sometimes I just can't keep my big mouth shut. I
mean.... I'm not an MS cheerleader myself... I'm just trying to help the
other folks in here when I can. And learn from others. All in all, I like
this board.

You can say that again!
Try going into any Mac board and talk about Windows or dump on Macs.

Yes indeed. One of the funniest is when people who ask about the forthcoming
Apple Boot Camp (http://www.apple.com/macosx/bootcamp/) which will allow
Macs to run Windows natively. The suppressed hatred because it's an official
Apple product so they can't trash it is just hilarious!
For some real flame war action, drop into a Linux NG and politely post
some newbie question or take the plunge and say Linux ain't all that
great.

Or, even better, post a link to a news item about the recent Microsoft /
Novell stuff and ask when Microsoft SuSE 1.0 is going to be released... ;-)

Anti-Microsoft: anyone who continually bashes MS, without looking at or even
considering all the facts or who don't even use MS products. Someone who is
not objective in their comments, someone with a closed mind who won't even
look for any positives and always find the negatives.

Xfile, I think its safe to say that most of the people on this board are not
CEO's, presidents, or even upper management. Wouldn't you agree?

I love to drop into Mac forums after I have my update counts for OS/X and
Windows for the month and OS/X has more than Windows (usually) and point
this out. The stock response is "At least we have a company that gets on
things right away!"

I also like to get a rise out of them when I point out that my MacBook Pro
is an intel laptop that just happens to also run OS/X.

LOL!

Them's fightin' words round there here parts, pardner... :)

I'm currently in the process of installing Ubuntu on my Mac Mini so that it
dual-boots that and MacOSX, and the Mac community are absolutely loving it!

Of course, it wasn't quite the same story when I asked for help in
alt.os.linux.suse about installing SuSE 10.0 on Virtual PC... ;-) That
caused a great deal of wailing and gnashing of teeth amongst the ungodly,
especially when it came to the VMAdditions...;-)

Fact is, I make a living writing (mostly) websites with Visual Studio.NET -
if tomorrow I discovered anything better than that, Microsoft or otherwise,
(and my ISP supported it), I'd drop it like a stone.

Which is exactly what I did with VB as soon as C# came out...

Ummm

I am reluctant to say so.

I don't want to disclose my profile, but I am reluctant to even think so for
others as well.

PS: What about those continually worship MS, without looking at or even
considering all the facts.. or who don't even explore other products.....and
won't even look for any negative or a slice of opportunity for the company
might have made a bad decision or might not have developed a right product
(name one company which has not), do we have a name for them as well?

When I was in business school, one of our professors told us that sweet
poison will kill us faster than criticism. I believe that and what do you
think? Just a thought to share.

In fact, for all big companies to go down, it is not because they don't have
resources nor talents nor technologies nor customers..., they all went down
because of "group thinking" - there is no second voice in the organization.
For an experienced manager or management consultant, when you see the sign
of group thinking, you would know this company is already in trouble. I am
not saying I am, just to share some thoughts :)

Finally, please don't forget the control power is in your hands, and you can
determine, and no one else can do it for you, what to read and respond.

You have the power and you should know how to use it ;)

There are also some idiots on this board who cannot grasp the complexity
of human nature. Its better for them to put a label and then sleep at night,
rather than thinking with their small brains.. too much struggle.
They jump to wrong conclusions, because thinking was never a habit for them.
They also lie on purpose or by convulsion, it seems better for them to do
so, because lies fill into their perception better than reality.
I could say without doubt, that THEY are the real dark spots on this
newsgroup.

I dont like linux hardcore users who are like that...

I would gladly go in there and preach about windows
