What's dialling out?

I have a machine running XP-Home that keeps trying to dial
out to the web. Frequently, when I turn the monitor on, it
has the dialler dialog box showing. I do not keep my modem
connected, so the dial-up fails.
Is there any way to find out which of the 37 running
processes is attempting to "phone home"?
(Antivirus and firewall are up to date and seem to be
working fine, and m/c is running almost 24x7.)

Thanks Carey,

Already had Ad-aware 6 installed. Updated and ran this and
it reported a freeware product called SpyHunter was
actually a data miner.
Are we talking inter-company rivalry here? Or is some
FreeWare better value for money than others?

It could be that your SpyHunter program is dialing out
in order to update its spyware definitions....this is normal.
Many software programs have an embedded feature to
"phone home" periodically and check for program updates.
