im building a gaming computer and was wondering what OS
version to use ??

I have the Home version and have not had any problems, but I think the Pro
version
offers you a bit more in security and helps with setting up with other
users. Other people here
know better than me, hopefully Jimmy of Chris will give you a link comparing
the two.

Hi,

Mike is correct. :-) In fact, here's a recent post from Chris on the subject:
Both are the same operating system, however Pro allows better security
controls of user accounts. If you have multiple users, and you need to lock
down your system from prying 5-year-olds, I'd use Pro. If you need Remote
Desktop or have to log on to a Domain, you'll need Pro.

Do your homework, study which options you need or want, and also take a look
at the upgrade version. It is less expensive for the full version, but
needs a qualifying previous operating system:

I'm using XP Pro, and I have yet to find a recent Beta Game,
Demo Game, or Full Version CD game that wouldn't work on it.

well since im makeing a lanparty computer i better go with pro. ok coll
thnks for the help. i didnt want to buy the worng version to help with my
gamin habbits :P

If you have one of the qualifying previous operating systems, you can
purchase the upgrade edition at quite a savings. It is still the full
version, allowing you to do clean installs, etc., but you have to supply the
original CD from the qualifying OS for the install. Most times, an OEM
"repair" CD does NOT qualify.
