What type video file must be used to have it play on page load?

I am trying to add a video to my web page and cant seem to get it to load on
page load it just shows a little multicolored box....Im a novice just
learning this sorry for the dumb question

is this in "design view"? have you tried previewing it in a browser? If
so, are you looking at a local page or a page on the internet.
if it's a page on the net, please give a link to the page.
