What does winbas12.exe do? Is it a part of windows ?

It is spyware. I suggest using Adaware, Spybot and HijackThis and a good
virus scanner.

Strange. I have just used both Adaware and Spyboot (both current version)
and they did not detect it. I Learned about it from ZoneAlarm logs. Is the
HijackThis free?

Also, make sure that your adaware and spybot are up to date, as new items
are adding almost daily lately.
