What is the Outlook 2007 "PST" file called and how do I find it?

In prior versions of Outlook, I could always find the Outlook user
data by scanning for PST file type. I've got a machine in which an
eval version was used and now expired. I want to save the data for
the day when I might buy Outlook and pick up where I left off.

I can't find a PST file.

Nothing to do with Windows - I recommend you ask an MS Office newsgroup.

Look for a .ost file. Default location is C:\Documents and
Settings\<user name>\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

You have to search to include hidden for *.pst files
Uninstalling a Trial version has no impact on the Data file (pst) or the
outlook profile.

a.. Make sure you include hidden and system files and folders when
searching for a pst-file
b.. By default it is located in;
C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook\
For Windows Vista and Windows 7 the default is;
C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\
c.. You can also locate the file by using;
Right click the root folder (probably Outlook Today)-> Properties-> button
Advanced-> field Filename
d.. If you have multiple pst-files you can get an overview via;
File-> Data File Management.

If you are searching for .pst files, be sure to include hidden files
and folders in your Advanced Search options.

Or, just look where Outlook is looking:

Click Tools, Options, Mail Setup, Data Files.

Hi Pegasus,

Your reply made me laugh. You're right though & I think the OP got a little
lost on the way to the Outlook newsgroup

Al Dykes is a frequent poster and I'm sure he knows how or where to find an
MS Office newsgroup.
