Step by step instructions please? A consistent "server unavailable" dialogue
doesn't "fix" or direct me to what I need to do. Neither does the "Help
section for Outlook. Neither the yellow square shortcut nor does clicking to
open my inbox to Microsoft Outlook 2003 work for going on weeks and months
now. I have searched Microsoft office online here for answers. I 've read
many questions that are very similar to mine. I feel for everyone using
Microsoft office 2003. I have had 0 helpful replies. Now its time to "do
something" besides ask more questions. Someone please tell me what goes into
the box that ask for the "server" name. If anyone knows "what a mail server
is and what any of us can actually accomplish to get done what we need done,
please...don't hesitate.

What type of email acct do you use? Who is your email provider? We cant know
what the server name is-you need to ask your provider-but if we know the
provider, we might be able to tell Yore,

Your ISP gave you that information when you signed up for their service.
Their Help pages should also contain the instructions for creating a mail
account.

The Exchange server name goes into the Server name field. If you do not have
an Exchange server and are working through a POP3 account or some other
external email service, that information goes into a different window. Is
the computer part of a domain? If so, try typing in the domain name and see
if resolves it. Make sure you try the FQDN as well as the local domain name.

If it is an external email service, go to Start > Control Panel > Mail and
Add a new e-mail account. Then choose POP3 if you have that information.
Otherwise, you will have to set up an IMAP service or an internet connection
to a mail server.

I had to change emails because of a conflict changing ISPs and now Peoplepc uses the old outlook express.
nothing syncronizes. I've used Microsoft Outlook in the past...since 2000. This email malfunction occurred when in December. I upgraded to Microsoft Outlook Office 2003 Small Business enabling the Business Contact Manager. I had to uninstall it but email send and recieve doesn't work failing to collect email. Thanks for your reply, but Microsoft utilizes too many security features for 1 single home office user in Office Outlook 2003. As I said, it doesn't recognize any "Main Identities" in Outlook Express and I can not uninstall Outlook express or else Microsoft Office Programs will all lock me out. No tools are accessible for Microsoft Office Programs 2003, and I'm just frustrated with buying products that restrict my usage of them.

Thank you, I used 5 different ISPs in the last month just trying to get back
online because one ISP took over control of my IE and redirected my email to
their inbox handler and did not allow syncronize to microsoft office . Thanks
again for not telling me places with more faq pages. Finally ,someone
understands.

the setup for outlook is similar to OE's steps. Do you get any errors when
you try to send and receive?
