what is the difference between a programme file & a document file

Hi there could you please the answer the following question:
what is the difference between a programme file & a document file?

Programme file = something constructed by somebody smart to make a computer
programme run..

Document file = something constructed by anybody at all for the purpose of
conveying a message or information
