I have gone through three email providers and three web clients before
settling on using outlook with a hotmail account. This setup was working fine
for a few months, but then I started having problems sending emails. Now, any
email sits in my outbox for 10 minutes while outlook tries to send it.
Finally, outlook gives me a failed attempt message that says "precondition
failed". I asked how I can fix the problem yesterday right here, and the one
person who replied told me that Microsoft is phasing out the ability of
hotmail to work with outlook. The fact that Microsoft would actually remove
the compatibility of two of their programs is the most absurd thing that I
have ever heard. Regardless of my opinion, I just want email service
provider that will work reliably with my outlook. I move around a lot, so it
has to be a service provider that doesn't require an internet account. Any
suggestions would be very helpful.

You could always pay for hotmail. It was originally announced that Microsoft
will remove the ability to access hotmail from Outlook in 2005, unless you
pay for the Hotmail account. I don't like it, but it makes perfect sense.
Hotmail uses ads to generate revenue, and if you access hotmail via Outlook,
they lose the ability to show you ads.

However, they use a very poor excuse:
"Cannot access my free Hotmail account from Outlook or Outlook Express

To protect our users from the increasing amount of unsolicited junk e-mail
or spam sent from MSN Hotmail Mail accounts through Outlook and Outlook
Express, we have reluctantly had to restrict the new use of Outlook and
Outlook Express to subscribers.

By making this feature part of a subscription, (which requires a user to
provide billing information), we can more effectively manage and put a stop
to abuse of this functionality, and help protect you and others from
unsolicited mail.

If you purchase a subscription service such as MSN Hotmail Plus or MSN
Premium, you get access to your account from Outlook or Outlook Express,
along with many other added features. To see other benefits of upgrading your
MSN Hotmail Mail or MSN/MSN accounts or to create a new subscription account
please visit our subscription information page."
