What is the beeping ??

I have a new Toshiba laptop and a couple of times when I
it was "on" and once when it was "off" it made an
intermittent beeping sound for about +/- 1 minute. I am
not using the battery as I have it plugged in.

Read the manual that came with your laptop or contact Toshiba tech
support. Beeps are error codes and you should find out what this means.
