One of my customer installs a third party software (desktop application
which never expires) on his customer PC and after certain days he wants to
expire it (make it not possible to use it) unless his customer pay the
royalty. How to make sure the software does not work after few days. I am
looking for good ideas to implement this kind of application. Please let me
know your ideas. Thanks,

It seems what you ask should not be possible, nor the right thing to do.
If someone develops software that includes a free stand alone component
then they should not be able to disable that free component, even if the
rest of their software is disabled.

For an example, somebody creates a PDF document organizer, and includes
Adobe's free PDF viewer in the package. Even if the organizer is disabled
after some time, the PDF viewer should not be. The reason is because they
are not the controlling authority of that 3rd party software, they do not have
the right to refuse its use to anyone.

I am no lawyer, the above is only my opinion, consult an actual lawyer for
any legal obligations that must be followed....
