what is outlook2003 cached mode ?

hi,

I'm about to upgrade from Ex2K/OL2K to Ex2K3/OL2K3 in order to have SPAM
filtering.

everywhere I read that OL2K3 must be in "cached mode". what is this
cached mode ? what's the difference with classic OL2K mode ?

BTW, I've read about "Intelligent Message Filter"

do I need it for anti-SPAM ? what is/will be the benefit ?
