What is messaging interface?

When I attempt to create a new message or do send/receive I get "The
messaging interface has returned an unknow error. If the problem persists,
restart Outlook."

I have restarted Outlook several times and the error message still appears.

I have restarted Outlook 2003 several times and the error message still appears. I did receive a reply but it was for Outlook 2000 - does it apply also to 2003?

As the Microsft article only specifies Outlook 2000 I would say that article
doesn't relate to Outlook 2003.

However I have read that recreating your Outlook profile might solve this
problem.

Thank you for your reply. What finally worked was an uninstall and reinstall
of Office 2003 using the Office 2003 and Office XP CDs.
