What is limit on number of search folders in outlook 2003?

Pat Cai [MSFT]

Based on my knowledge, there is no number limitation on search folder of
Outlook 2003. We once have created more than 20 search folders in one
profile and all of them can work properly :)

So, I'd like to clarify what your really goal? Do you have any other
concerns? Please feel free to post here. It is always our pleasure to be of
assistance.

We are getting a message that we cannot add additional search folders when we
try to create more than 30. Is there any way to over ride this?

There is a default limit of 20 search folders per mailbox if you are using
Exchange server, the Exchange admin can change that but be aware that the
more search folders are created the more restrictions are placed on the
mailbox in Exchange and they persist by default for 8 days (also can be
changed). That can bring your Exchange server to its knees and result in
things like opening an email taking a couple of minutes.

For Outlook PST file, there is no number limitation for search folders.
However, for Exchange mailbox, we do have some restriction on the search
folder. So, in order to isolate the problem, please help to collect the
following information:

1. What's the edition of your Exchange? 5.5/2000/2003
2. Please capture a screenshot on the error message. You may attach it in
the post or send to me directly at (e-mail address removed)

If anything is unclear, please feel free to post here.
