What is a good brand of refill ink for a Canon IP-3000?

To buy off the web. Unless there is a store that sells it.

My friend has that printer, and it uses iiuc 3E cartridges, Bk, M, Y,
and C.

He's afraid to use bulk ink because he was told some will hurt the
printheads. I've been told that too, but all I have is a Canon BJ-200
so I've done okay.

So what is a good brand of bulk ink for this Canon printer?

Thanks.

I don't use Canon, so take anything I say with a grain of salt...

I have been on this newsgroup for years, and there has been NO printer
damage that has been traced definitely to aftermarket ink. A couple of
posters have suspected it, but it has not been confirmed to be the root
cause of the problem. Two problems arise form aftermarket ink. Foremost
is longevity. If you print a photo and display it without protecting it
under glass, aftermarket ink will most likely not last as long as OEM
ink. The other problem is with color matching, as some inks, especially
the "universal" one-ink-fits-all types, are prone to not quite match OEM.

You will probably see a poster who will now step up and say that all I
print are throwaways with an HP, that I don't care about quality, and I
don't know what I'm talking about - so I should be ignored. It's not
entirely true, but that doesn't matter to him.

I say listen to everybody, and decide for yourself which direction to take.

I have been using Supply Source brand bulk inks in my Canon brand
printers for many years and have never had any problems with them. You

Here it's KMP and Inktec. Just make sure to get real pigmented black for
text-black, if the iP3000 got that. iP4000 got BCI-3eBk (the big one,
pigmented) and BCI-6 C/M/Y/Bk (the slim ones).

Maybe, usually not. But three times refilled is a saving of much more
than one new printhead - and may refilled more than 10 times with the
same head.

Thanks to all of you. I'm putting all the replies together and
emailing them to him.

BTW, went to a small hamfest yesterday, but there was no one selling
ink.

One more question, probably obvious. Since his printer uses
replaceable ink-only cartridges, no printhead except in the caddy that
holds them all, does that mean with a printer like that, one doesn't
have to reset a chip to keep refillling it?

that's possible in all variations, but since there's no chip, there's
nothing to reset.

However, one of those "chips" is within the printer itself, e.g. for the
waste ink tank.

There's a tank for waste ink?

After you waste a tank's worth, you can't waste anymore? :)
