What Happened To PapaJohn Website?

B

Big Jim

I have the same problem that many here also have with MM2
shutting down when effects are added and was excited to
see a fix referred to @ www.papajohn.org and again at
eicsoftware.com/pictures/papajohn/website-MM2.MM2.html

Unfortunalely neither of those sites are up. Anybody
have another source to find this info?

Thanks by the way for an interesting forum here!

Big Jim

That's got me stumped. I have been trying your site
every couple of hours for the last 24hrs and am getting
nothing?! My connection is up and OK as I am here
obviously :( The www.eicsoftware.com site is dead for me
also.

P

PapaJohn

There's only one site. The www.papajohn.org address gets sent the
eicsoftware server, where I maintain the website. I just checked again using
a browser, did an ftp connection, and pinged the www.papajohn.org address
and everything seems normal.

What page are you looking for? I can give you a direct link to bypass the
menu. The menu is Java script, which might be your issue.

B

Big Jim

Hello John:

And thanks for the direct link. Still no go:

"The page cannot be displayed
The page you are looking for is currently unavailable.
The Web site might be experiencing technical
difficulties, or you may need to adjust your browser
settings."

Kinda weird huh? I'll try getting there from my work
computer tomorrow I guess?

Thanks for all of your help whith this board and here as
well.

Hi PapaJohn,

At this time 7am EST I can see your website. If others at this time cannot
It indicates a failure in the infra structure between your site and them
and will almost certainly be under repair. It would be a good idea all the
same, for those people who cannot see your page to do the following

1) open a DOS box (Command) and type TRACERT www.papajohn.org when finished
copy all of the text
2) Contact their own ISP stating can not reach etc and include the text from
step one above

Below is the result of a trace to your site from me...

You will see that hops 22, 23, 25 and 26 have no values...thats because that
server has refused the info...that is not a fault...but if you got Request
Timed out all the way to the end...that is a fault. As I am on broadband I
would have expected quite a few of the above values to be higher than they
are, but even so...its not to bad

Hi again,

I did not mean Higher as numerically higher....I meant faster response...oh
heck...wish you had not got out of bed??

Hi John,

It's interesting that I can't trace the route. When I tried in last night
when Big Jim couldn't open the site, and I wasn't having any problems, I got
the same result as when I tried it again just now. I can ping it and get
positive feedback, but when I do a Tracert I get:

So this check doesn't seem conclusive. Maybe because I'm connected via a
Linksys router/switch.

I had a similar problem. some sites I couldnt log onto.
You might check your computer for a trojan or denial of
service virus. Thats what mine had.

J

John Kelly

Hi there,

That result simply means you are not getting out of your own system with
Tracert.

J

John Kelly

Hi again,

Sorry about that...all hell just let loose here....our not so small dog does
not like fireworks and a big one went off.

My youngest lad could answer this much better than I can, the result on your
tracert is typical. There is a way around it, but I can't help...I don't
know how. In addition, does your router have a firmware firewall? That
can/will also give problems like this, and finally are you by any chance
running an adaptive firewall on your PC (Such as Norton Personal Firewall)
If it receives loads of Return Pings (can't remember proper name) Norton
will assume you are under attack and close the port off. the end result
would be identical to the one you showed us. If you do have such a firewall
inspection of the logs will show something along the lines of...

Date: 10/11/2003 Time: 03:38:11
Unused port blocking has blocked communications. Details:
Inbound TCP connection
Remote address,local service is (68.198.157.194,8888)

anyway, the ultimate test for anyone is can they see your website...if a lot
cannot, but say, I could, then its very unlikely you have a problem...its
more likely a routing problem on the Backbone or a DNS problem...on the
subject of DNS, My own provider got accidentaly black holed some time
back...it took two days to sort that one out because most of the DNS
services received the bad info....

Thanks John,

I like my setup the way it is. I was simply pointing out to those reading
the tread that not being able to do a Tracert command and see the server
doesn't mean the server is down, or that you can't access the web pages on
it. It just might mean your local setup stops the Tracert command from
working.

But pinging the server might still work like it does for me.

Hello Everyone:

I am able to load the site just fine from my work
computer. I'll try my home computer again this evening.

Hopefully all is well now.

Thanks to you all for your help / interest!
