What happened to my deleted emails?

This just started yesterday. All of a sudden, when I delete an email it
completely disappears (immediately) rather than going into the deleted email
folder. Yes - I ensured that the box for "remove deleted emails when exiting
Outlook" or however that box is labeled and it is NOT checked. In any event,
the disappearance doesn't wait until I exit outlook - it happens immediately.

I've not installed any new updates recently and I'm on Vista with Outlook
2007. This is a real problem for me. Can you help?

How do I do that? I've gone through all the menu line items and haven't seen
anything that resembles these settings.
