What happened Hearts in WinXP? No LAN play?

Why in the hell did MS deactivate LAN play in MS Hearts??
I don't want their stinking internet Herats, my wife and I used to
love playing together over the LAN at home. This really sucks.

I tried installing the Hearts version from Win98 and can see the LAN
options but they're greyed out, does anyone know of a hack to get around
that and re-enable LAN play? Way to go MS...

Also.. I recommend you download this free version of Hearts:

which is completely free, and which will work with your LAN. :)

| Rather dumb, huh? Microsoft in its wisdom decided people would rather play

MSHEARTS used Netbeui for the network code. With the release of WinXP,
Netbeui was declared obsolete and unsupported, and no longer available by
default. I assume that since the programmers knew that Netbeui was going
away, they cleaned up the game's code and removed the LAN option instead of
adapting it to use TCP/IP (in favor of the new internet versions).

Netbeui for WinXP is available on the XP CD. If you are able to get the
Win98 version to run on XP, and install Netbeui, you might be able to get
the LAN feature to work.
