What going wrong with uploading My digital Video Files

Hi i'm Chris and I am having problems wih uploading my videos from my
Panasonic NV-DS65A Digital Video Camera. I have connected the Video Camera
to the Computer via the Fire wire cord (6-pin Male to 4-pin Male) The
computer recognizes the Camera as a panasonic DV Device and prompts me If I
want to take no action or Record using Windows Movie Maker ( I'm Using
Windows XP Professional and Windows Movie Maker- version 1.1.2427.1)
When I click Record Windows Movie Maker appears the a prompt appears and
says: An error has occured with your capture device. Check that it is
configured properly and try again. If necessary, refer to the documentation
for the capture device for more information.

Is there a problem with my firewire cord, Digtal video camera or Software?
And Is there a solution. I ask if someone could help because I will need to
be uploading video files in a couple hours that are very impotant.

Please Help

Chris.

camera from that section but when I exit the configuring part is says the
same message as when I enter Windows movie maker with my camera connected.

The camera is powered by mains and not battery?
The cam is in vcr/playback position and not record?
Can you try another cable and cam on your pc that you know works, or your
cam and cable on another known to work pc?
