Surely this is the wrong way round. You don't buy games to show
off a video card, you buy a video card because the one you have
won't allow you to play the games you want properly.

I don't have Doom3 or HL2 but I have Far Cry and IMO Splinter Cell:
Chaos Theory looks way better than Far Cry. Some people say Chronicles
of Riddick looks as good as Doom3 and I do have that one. It's a good
showcase game. But Slinter Cell:CT really impresses me because it
looks so good and yet runs so well on even a 9800pro, P4 3.0ghz, 1gb
ram.
