What files keep & what files delete after upgrade ?

Any suggestion on what files are safe to delete after doing a "upgrade
install" from XP ?

To help free up HD Space as well......

Such as there is a "$WINDOWS.~Q", "$INPLACE.~TR" as just a few to
mention......
