What files are necessary to support East Asian languages?

In WinXP's "Regional and Language Options" > "Languages" tab, there's the
option of "Install files for East Asian languages" (in non-East Asian
versions, of course). I'd like to know what files from the CD-Rom is needed
for this option (and probably for those Asian IME's as well).

Several times when I travel aboard, I need to read my mails on-line but the
PC's which are available to me couldn't display Chinese characters. Most of
the time the owners are willing to install whatever is needed to please their
customers, but the problem is that they have no idea where to find the XP
CDRom!!!

So, I've come up with the idea that, since they have broadband Internet
connections most of the time, I could put those necessary files somewhere on
the net (or in my own computer's FTP server) so I can download them easily.
And that could also be useful to my friends and workmates!!

But the problem is I don't know what files to store. Some might tell me
just to store whatever is inside the "i386" folder. Well... yes... I could,
but that would take up a lot of unnecessary space. And I have two very
strong reasons against this:
1. Even if storing files isn't a big problem, but I'll need to download
those files to the local disk of the destination PC. It is thus obvious that
it's wiser to download only what is needed. The whole i386 folder contains
more than 500MB of data, it's therefore unacceptable to download them all.

2. The PC that I (or my workmates/friends) will be using isn't necessarily
in English version, so I need to prepare files for other language versions.
My company is an MSDN subscriber and we have access to most other languages.
Of course, I won't stock every available language, but most probably the
mostly used. My list is:
English (US and UK, or even Canadian, Australian?), French, German,
Hungarian, Italian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish. And if I
know the list of exact files to store, I could even write a mail to my
workmates in the office to put up the files of the required language.

So, back to the main question: what files are needed? How about for the
IME's, do they have other files?

You'll need an actual Windows XP CD.
Most folks take their own laptop for
use when traveling.

The dialog box for the "Install files for East Asian languages" is dim out.
How can I get it back?

I have tried to re-install the system many times but no luck. Please help.

Is this directly related to the previous post that you quoted? If not,
then it just confuses the issue.
