Installing East Asian language pack

Guest

I need to install the East Asian language pack on my Windows XP home ed. I
went to Control Panel >Regional/Language Settings>Language Tab and then
ticked the East Asian language box. I shortly received this message: "Files
Needed: The file "cplexe.exe on Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2 CD is
needed. Type the file and path where the file is located and click okay."

My HP computer came pre-installed with XP (no CD was provided by the
retailer). I have the recent SP2 installed, but no CD.

I tried going to the Windows Taiwan website and tried to download
Traditional Chinese language fonts from their - same exact message.

I searched this forum and found a few threads regarding problems installing
East Asian languages, but nothing helpful was found there.

Thank you for your kind assistance,

Jordan

Jordan:

Check your hard drive for a value added folder or language folder.
Either could be directly under c:\windows\value add or
c:\windows\language or even:

c:\windows\i386\value add or c:\windows\i386\language

If you do not have the language and IME folders pre-installed on your
hard drive, you will be unable to install the East Asian IME or
language support. The retail version of Home and Pro and most OEM
versions have the language and IME support folders.

Go to the following web site for instructions and further help: Good
luck.
