What does this mean, when shown as a broken link

J

JCO

When running a report to display broken links. This is what I get:
http://127.0.0.1:1362/js.cgi

I have 17 of these (not all exact) but I can't find any broken link on the
page.
What am I suppose to do? I want to ensure that I don't have something that
should be resolved.

Check in the HTML code on the page for the link.

Well,
127.0.0.1 is called a loopback address and is an internal IP address used
by your machine.
:1362 indicates that the loopback address is using port 1362.
js.cgi indicates a cgi or common gateway interface file
Are you using any cgi files in your web??

Where in your web is this "broken link" appearing??

Sounds like your on the right track.
The broken link shows up in the reports. I run them so I can work out the
broken links and graphics. Call it general cleaning. On the reports page,
when it show a broken link, I can click on it and it gives me the option to
edit the link or edit the page. If I edit the page, it takes me to the area.
These are simple website addresses and they work. Keep in mind, the web
address is in normal format and works. It is on the reports page (that
shows the link broken), that displays http://127.0.0.1:1362/js.cgi.

cgi files? I don't know. I don't know what they are. Let me know, and I
will tell you. As far as I can tell, these are normal internet sites....
that FP2003 cant resolve (for some reason).

File Menu | Open Site and then enter your URL, then you login info, then
once you have site open on the remote server, you then run your reports.

Or does the remote server not have the FP extensions?

Does the broken link report point to a page that contains the link??

If so, where in the page is the link??

Thomas,
I don't logon. I open a site in FP2003 then click the SiteSummary button.
This shows all of the different reports. I run the report necessary report
which asks if it should verify all hyperlinks. I say yes and it runs down
the list. I never logon to the server.

When this report is finished running, you can sort the status column so that
all the broken links are at the top. You can also save the report, so you
can come back to it later.

This is the report in question.

T

Thomas A. Rowe

Ok, then you are only looking at the report based on your local copy of the
web and not the remote site. You can only run the reports on the remote
site, if it has the FP extensions and you open it directly in FP via File
Menu | Open Site.

What was the original issue?

I still means you have a link somewhere in your site (the report will tell you which page) to http://127.0.0.1:1362/js.cgi
Open the page w/ that link and correct it

I will try to answer all questions from each of you.
When running this "unverified hyperlink" report I get the following results
(this is a small sub set):
Broken http://127.0.0.1:1362/js.cgi tournaments/tournaments.html
DFWTejanos- Tournaments External SERVER\Josee Oliviero
Broken http://127.0.0.1:1362/js.cgi profiles/profiles.html DFWTejanos-
Profiles External SERVER\Josee Oliviero
Broken http://127.0.0.1:1362/js.cgi club_info/club.html DFWTejanos-
Club Info External SERVER\Josee Oliviero
Broken http://127.0.0.1:1362/js.cgi teams/teams.html DFWTejanos- Teams
External SERVER\Josee Oliviero

Yes I get the option to edit the hyperlink or I can edit the page. If I
chose to edit the page, it takes me to the page but not specifically to the
problem area. Therefore I will check out each of the hyperlinks... they all
check out okay.

I don't understand these errors nor can I find them. I don't understand the
"/js.cgi" on each of these errors. Basically, I would like to understand
what these are so I can fix them.

Open the page for editing and do a search (Edit -> Find, or Ctrl F) for
"js.cgi".
These links may have been inserted by your host, or a third party, for
services they provide, such as hit-counter. If this is the case, ignore the
report. Otherwise, please give a URL for the online site, if it exists.

This has been working for the most part.
I'm finding a few tables that don't show up on my site but were causing the
link problem.
Thanks
