what does this error mean "bad file name or number"

I get "bad file name or number" error when I try to create a form or a report
in Access . What does this mean and how can I correct this error?

Hi Ella,

Bad file name or number is Error # 52 (for what it's worth). Are you
attempting to create the form/report by invoking a wizard in Access? If yes,
what happens in you click on the New Object button in the toolbar (I'm
assuming you are using Access 2003 or earlier, not Access 2007), select Form
(or Report), and then click on the first entry: "Design View"?
Alternatively, click on the Forms or Reports tab, then click on Insert > Form
(or Report), followed by Design View? Does this allow you to create a brand
new form or report from scratch?
