What component includes ntprint.inf?

We are working with a vendor to supply us with an XP Embedded based
system. We've just taken delivery of a test image, and although the
vendor says they have included the components necessary for printing /
installing printers, ntprint.inf doesn't exist and our printer install
(HP Deskjet) fails. Copying ntprint.inf from an XP Pro system allows
the install to get further, but then fails on another file.

So, I guess more than just ntprint.inf, can anyone tell me what
components are required for full USB printing support (including driver
installation) in XP Embedded?

Regards,

Dave

FYI, the other file the driver installation was looking for was "sRGB
Color Space Profile.icm".

So, does anyone know what components are required for printing,
specifically which one is likely missing since ntprint.inf is missing in
this image?

Hi Dave,

as far as I can see in the Windows XPe Target Designer there isn't
just one
component which contains the "ntprint.inf" file. Instead every printer
component contains this file (e.g. Apple LaserWriter Pro 810, HP Color
LaserJet 8550 PCL, HP DeskJet, ...). The other mentioned file "sRGB
Color
Space Profile.icm" is installed by the "ICM: SRGB IEC61966-2.1"
component.
So maybe it will work if your vendor adds the component for your
special
printer device "HP DeskJet" and the ICM component, but I doesn't feel
confident about this as I never tested it.

Thanks for the response, Chris.

Does including one of those printer components actually install a
printer, or just the driver? We don't want any printers installed since
we plan on having the field tech install a printer on-site (which one
depends on what is being sold with the system at the time), but if one
of those components will get ntprint.inf in place without actually
installing a printer then that will work.

I'm not sure about this, because I never had the same problem. We are
supporting only one printer, but this printer is already included in a custom
component. Maybe another user has experience with that?

Chris
