Printer Installation Failure

Recently when I went to print, Windows reported that the printer driver for
my HP 722C needed to be reinstalled. When I tried to reinstall it, I got a
message saying there was an error during the installation. I tried a number
of times, sometimes letting Windows choose the driver, other times manually
choosing the driver, but it always fails. I checked the setupapi.log file and
found this at the end:

#I056 Coinstallers registered.
#-166 Device install function: DIF_INSTALLINTERFACES.
#-011 Installing section [HPVDJ720.GPD.ICM.Interfaces] from
"c:\windows\inf\ntprint.inf".
#I054 Interfaces installed.
#-166 Device install function: DIF_INSTALLDEVICE.
#E154 Class installer failed. Error 193: %1 is not a valid Win32 application.

Is there anyway to find out what %1 refers to? Any suggestions on how to
proceed? I've already tried doing a repair installation of XP, which didn't
fix the problem.

Thank you.
