What codecs are used

Does anybody know what video and audio codes WMM 1.1 uses? I would assume 7.1
for video and 9 for audio.

However, when I encode a file (for streaming via windows media services 9)
using Windows Media Encoder 9 using 7.1 video and 9 audio codecs, I do not
get sound. Running the same file through movie maker yeilds successful audio
and video. Is there something special that WMM does. I am using Windows Media
Player 7+.
