What causes applications not to launch?

I'm noticing now that some applications are not launching in my Windows
XP setup. I'm
wondering what some causes of this might be.

For instance, emusic download manager, pdf995.....when I click on them
nothing happens,
the hourglass spins and that's it.

Guessing, but could be you don't have all your drivers.

I've found things I THOUGHT were XP compatible weren't.

??

Good luck!

An interesting guess, but probably wrong. If s/he didn't have the proper
drivers, the computer would not have been working properly from the
get-go. Unfortunately, the OP hasn't given us any information to help
us give him/her focused troubleshooting.

To the OP - Go to this link to see what kind of details you need to
include in your newsgroup post: http://www.dts-l.org/goodpost.htm

Then come back with all pertinent information and someone will help you.
Also, check in Event Viewer for clues and include anything you find in
your post. Start>Run>eventvwr.msc [enter]

I fixed it by using hijack this. Turns out there were two winlogon
notify lines that I took out, and one BHO. That seemed to fix the
problem.

I've been posting to usenet since 1993 so I don't really care about
someone's obsessive standards of what I should post.

Then since you apparently don't get when someone is being polite to you
and you don't know how to include enough information to get help, you
probably do understand this term: killfile

That's obvious. Your original post in this thread looks like a newb's
post.
