Can I ever recover open office once it is removed by mistake?
 
You can start by asking an Open Office newsgroup instead of one for
Microsoft Word.

Reinstall it. If you need to download it again, go to openoffice.org

But next time, go to an open office newsgroup, NOT an MS newsgroup. OO
has absolutely nothing to do with MS Office. Entirely different
resources.
