What are .XML extension files?

On my new XP Pro system, I now have 276 files beginning with IMTxx and all
having the .xml extension.
They reside in Documents & Settings\User\Local Settings\Temp.
They appear to increase every day. Can someone tell me what these are and
can they be deleted?

XML and HTML files are the principle file types of the internet

yes they can be deleted and will be if you use disk cleanup

BAR, thanks - however while there are over 276 of these files with 68MB in my
Doc&Settings\user\local settings\temp folder, disk cleanup shows nothing in
Temporary Files. I clicked and ran anyway but they are still there. There
are also some in Doc&Settings\Administrator\local settings\temp.

Can I just manually delete? Do you know why these appear in XP, I never saw
them in Win ME?
