Thank you for the information.
I discovered that windows does not allow you to deactive system fonts at all
(i suppose this is for our benefit), and allowed me to narrow down a list of
Vista's essential fonts, including the "6 C's" that you pointed me to.
There are 60 individual system font files that can not be deactivated using
windows/fonts or Font Expert.
They are the following 28 typefaces:
Aharoni Bold
Arial (B, BI, I, Narrow, NarrowB, NarrowBI, BI, Unicode MS, Black)
Courier New (B, BI, I)
Courier
Georgie (B, I, BI)
Lucinda Console
Lucinda Sans Unicode
Malgun Gothic (B)
MS Gothic
MS Mincho
MS Mincho
MV Boli
MS Outlook
Palatino Linotype (B, BI, I)
MS Reference Sans Serif
MS Reference SPecialty
Segoe Print (B)
Segoe Script (B)
Segoe UI (B, I, BI)
MS Serif
Symbol
Tahoma (B)
Times New Roman (B, BI, I)
Verdana (B, BI, BI)
Webdings
Wingdings
Wingdings2
Wingdings3
In addition are the 6 C's that either can not, or should not, be removed.
These additional 22 files are:
Calibri
Cambri
Candara
Consolas
Constantia
Corbel
----
NOTE: This is a situation with Office 2007 and Adobe CS2 installed.
Font Expert tells me there are an additional 50 files installed that i can
not interact with. Many of these could be Office required, and i recognize
many as being Adobe installed (i can not find a list of PC Adobe required
fonts or how to remove them).
I'm suprised how many fonts must remain active, as i widdled OS X down to
about 14 fonts total, including foriegn character sets for the web.
If anyone has additional information please add on.
