What AGP Card

My PC is quite old and will be replaced in the next 12 months in the meantime I planning on changing my Graphics Card, this is the problem I have no idea of where to start.

Below is my PC's Spec:

P4 3.2Ghz Prescott
2GB DDR2 400 PC3200
High End Asus Motherboard - Dual DDR, S-ATA, 8XAGP, 5PCI
2 X 80GB Hard Disk
350Watt PSU might be 400watt

The graphics card is an old 128mb GeForce FX5200 - AGP

And its this I want to replace, considering my limited 350watt PSU what AGP card would be best new or secondhand?

Thanks

with that PSU you probably wouldn't be safe going for anything much better than an ATI 9600 AGP..

If you upgraded your PSU to say a 450w you could then grab an ATI 1950 pro AGP there are some on ebay and that would give you quite a performance gain..

Good luck in your quest..:thumb:

You will get a noticable performance increase from a Radeon 9600, they are cool running and pretty reliable - have had one running in the computer downstairs for four years now, and you can pick them up these days for about £20.

Of course you won't be able to run any recent games, but if you have been using an fx5200 for a few years I'm sure that isn't an issue.

I wouldn't bother upgrading the psu and blowing a ton on a 1950 personally.

Your 400W PSU will be fine.

This ATI card is good spec, bit pricey for an outdated technology though Link

This is a nice little card for not much money. You'll be able to play a fair few games with it and video stuff will look very good.
