I exited out of a computer game and found that my display was set at a much
lower resolution. So much so, that the desktop icons were overly large, but
more importantly, the start menu button and bottom taskbar were no longer
visible. Going into the display options I was able to correct the resolution
issue, but the bottom taskbar and Start menu button were still not visible. I
tried adjusting my monitor so that it was skewed higher, but it was still not
visible, even when the bottom of the display reached the edge and turned
black. (I have since unskewed my display).
All desktop icons, internet, and programs are functioning normally, and I
can still run programs, restart and shut down the computer normally, run
tasks normally only accessible through the "run" option on the start menu,
and even maximize tabbed windows (normally located on the now non-visible
taskbar) all through the taskmanager after bringing it up by pressing Ctrl,
Alt, Delete. I can continue doing this, as everything is still functioning
normally, it's simply incredibly inconvinient.
I've continued altering settings in the display options to no avail. I've
gone into the Control Panel and double clicked on the Start menu and taskbar
folder, but it does not respond. All other folders respond normally and open.
I've pressed Ctrl and Esc, the Start menu is not brought up. Nor is it
brought up by pressing the Windows key. One thing of note, is whenever
something is minimized or maximized, the window seems to come to and from the
lower right section/corner of the screen.
I admit I'm stumped. Has anyone seen anything like this before?
