jim sturtz

i recently did a new install of winxp & officexp.

now when word starts i get an 'install' message that pops up, nothing
happens for awhile, then word starts.

i just noticed i have a bunch of .log files that are coming from winword.
the whole file is 1366kb so i wont post it but here is a slice off the top
and bottom. anyone know how to stop this?

i saw once a message telling me to goto setup and run 'repair' but there
isnt a word 'setup' is there? are they telling me to run office setup & a
repair in it?

thanks.

Hi Jim,

In most Office XP applications (if not all) you can go to 'Help'/'Detect and
Repair'. If you were told to run the repair wizard or something to that
effect then I would try there first. It might able to re-install any corrupt
or missing files and correct any problems which you are having.

Regards,

Carl

I have had that problem also. What I did to fix it was insert the dis
and it automatically updates the install off of the office xp disk.
had to do this with all users on the XP platform

thanks for the replies. i did the 'repair' from the word help. it ran
repair but didnt fix the problem. i made another install.log file in temp &
showed the little 'install' message when i first started.

hmm. rather put out.

went to remove the shortcut to winword on my desktop when i realized in
wasnt a shortcut. looked about some more and found a shortcut that worked
fine. somehow i had gotten a copy of the .exe file copied onto the desktop
& the seems to have been the problem. i killed that, stuck a real shortcut
in its place, & things a working swimmingly.
