Problem Uninstalling BCM

I've seen many installation/uninstalltion problems with BCM though I haven't
seen the problem I am having addressed. I have XP Pro, Office2003SBE w/BCM.
I've uninstalled Office 2003.

I repeatedly encounter a "Windows Installer" error window when attempting an
uninstallation:
"The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is
unavailable."

"Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing
the installation package 'BusinessContactManager-FullFile-ENU.MSP' in the box
below."

I've seen "LastUsedSource" referenced as the source package and found it's
location in the registry. I backed up my registry and deleted the key and
that caused immediate errors so I restored my registry.

Does anyone have any ideas as to how I may be able to resolve this issue? I
would like to install BCM once I'm past this. But now I'm at a dead end.

Any help or suggestions are very much appreciated.

Try the windows Installer Cleanup Utility and see if that helps

I used the windows Installer Cleanup Utility this morning and it removed BCM
from my add/rem programs list. I then tried the installation from the
Office2003SBEw/BCM CD and it failed with a different error. I ran another
setup log but its too long to post. Here are some of the errors that I can

Hi Hatty

Thanks for the reply. There are two parts to BCM V2 Setup. The first part
is when the actual BCM bits are installed. The second portion is when MSDE
is installed. During what part of the setup did the failure occur?
If it failed during the MSDE portion, the best log to look at is the SQL
Setup log, which is named cnfgsvr.out. That file can be found in this
folder:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL$MICROSOFTSMLBIZ\Install

Try matching the error in that file to some of the errors listed in this
Knowledge Base Article:

901163 How to troubleshoot Business Contact Manager Setup issues
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;901163

Also, when checking the Windows Installer log, search for "return value 3".
Any useful information will be found either before or after that text
string, usually towards the end of the log.

Thanks for the reply. There are two parts to BCM V2 Setup. The first part
is when the actual BCM bits are installed. The second portion is when MSDE
is installed. During what part of the setup did the failure occur?
If it failed during the MSDE portion, the best log to look at is the SQL
Setup log, which is named cnfgsvr.out. That file can be found in this
folder:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL$MICROSOFTSMLBIZ\Install

Try matching the error in that file to some of the errors listed in this
Knowledge Base Article:

901163 How to troubleshoot Business Contact Manager Setup issues
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;901163

Also, when checking the Windows Installer log, search for "return value 3".
Any useful information will be found either before or after that text
string, usually towards the end of the log.

Folks,
Is there a way to only un-install the BCM portion of Outlook, or do you need
to remove it all and the only RE-install outlook? I downloaded the cleanup
utility and am ready to go, but it looks like it will remove both systems?
