Welcome Screen Question

Alright, there is something that has really been bugging
the heck out of me.

I recently installed the .net framework on my computer,
goofed around with it a bit, just to see what is was all
about, and then uninstalled it. Now, at the welcome
screen, it says "1 unread email message" under my same.
I click on it and it gives my hotmail address (which I
signed up for and then promptly cancelled).

I want this to go away, it is extremely annoying. I
don't have a hotmail account anymore.

Any suggestions?

Hi

Download TweakUI from http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp and when installed go to Start>Programs>Powertoys for Windows XP>Tweak UI - then Logon>Unread Mail - uncheck 'Show unread mail on Welcome screen' or via the Registry:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\UnreadMail\(Your E-Mail Address) - in the right hand pane double click 'Message Count' and set the value to 0(zero)

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\UnreadMail - in the right hand pane double click 'MessageExpiryDays' and set the value to 0(zero)

Note: **If you do intend to manually edit the Registry, please back it up first.** A very good program to backup/restore the Registry is ERunt:

Hi Will,

Use TweakUI/Logon/Unread Mail and Repair/Unread Mail Count
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp

Disable Unread Mail on the Welcome Screen (Line 100)
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

To remove an account or to change the count manually Go to:
Start/Run/Regedit and navigate to this key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\UnreadMail\[Your
E-Mail Address]. In the right pane modify: Message Count, Change it to 0.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\UnreadMail. In
the right pane modify: MessageExpiryDays Change it to 0.
