Welcome Screen Messages not wanted

Can anyone help with this problem?

I have XP home, and when I boot my computer, and the "Welcome Screen"
appears with my user accounts shown (administrator accounts, limited
accounts, etc..) underneath one of my limited accounts appears some text, a
message that states that I have "two unread emails".

This is not the case, I'm using outlook express, and there are not unread
emails in any of my email accounts, yet this message constantly appears when
I boot and the welcome screen appears.... Really annoying!

Any tricks or techniques to get rid of this? ? ?

HELP?

thanks for any support,
Robert

Download TweakUI.
Run the program, and disable the "Show unread mail count on welcome screen"
option. I can't remember where abouts in the program the option is, but it's
easy enough to find.

Have you try to keep cursor on message "unread mails" ? It shows you
what is the source of the message.

my script http://gilles.ronsin.free.fr/fichiers/unread.vbs can help
you.

Thanks T.Lake,

I'll try that and post back on success or not. I'd prefer to not have to
use tweakUI, but as a last resort, it may be the only ticket.

It's pretty bad when Microsoft can't or won't address issues like this in
their help or support files.

Hi Gilles,

I have put my cursor over the text. It states that I have two unread
messages in from an erroneous email address I had mistakenly set up when
installing Outlook Express. Since the text references an incorrect and
non-existing email address, and since I've typed in the wording exactly and
did a search of my drive and can't find that exact text anywhere, I don't
know what to do.....Any ideas, ??????

Help????

Ok. Just use my script and choose kill button in front of bad mailbox.
This will remove this obsolete value.
