Welcome Screen comes up when it didn't before

I have never had to have the Windows Welcome screen come up where I have to
select the user account to access my computer. But I just installed Sony's IC
Recorder, Digital Voice Editor ver. 3.1.03 and now the Welcome Screen comes
up and I have to select my account (which is the only one) to access my
desktop and the rest of my computer. I uninstalled the Digital Voice Editor
software but the Welcome Screen still comes up. I even tried restoring my
system to a previous point before any of this happened and that didn't work
either. I hate having to select my account in order to access my computer
when I am the only one who uses this computer.

Please could someone help me in getting rid of the Welcome Screen so that I
can just boot up Windows and access my computer directly?

I have Windows XP 32 with SP3 Installed.

Thanks

I am really sorry for posting 3 times... When I went to post the first time
I received an error stating that my post could not be received and that I
should try again later. So that is what I did, twice. That is why there are 3
posts. I know that it can take some time to receive a reply. I am sorry for
that.

As to my specific problem with the Welcome Screen, your suggestion brought
up information that I have already tried and while that turns off the Welcome
Screen there still is a window that comes up requiring that I put in a
password. Sense I have no password I just hit enter. But I don't want this
window either. I just want the computer to load directly to my desktop
without any log on window. That is what was happening before. Also if I do
turn off the Welcome Screen the Shut Down menu is the old style with a drop
down selection box that I use to select if I want to Shut Down, Restart, Log
Off, StandBy, or Hibernat! I want the newer version which is what I had
before that comes up with 3 buttons: Shut Down, Restart, and Log Off. I just
want it back the way it was before I installed the Digital Voice Editor
software.

Thanks

Start\Run and type in "Control userspasswords2" and take out the checkmark from
Users must enter etc etc and then hit Apply. Reboot and check if that is what you
want

This isn't a web-based forum; it's a newsgroup. The reason you're
having such problems is that you are using the awful web interface to
participate in this newsgroup--it's the slowest, clunkiest, most
error-prone method of using the newsgroups there is. Do yourself a
favor and switch to a newsreader, such as Outlook Express, which comes
with Windows XP, or Windows Mail, which comes with Vista. See

I could not get "control userpasswords2" to do anything on my XP Pro
SP3 (don't know why yet), but I am using TweakUI to have myself
automatically logged on when Windows starts. It is offered in the
Logon section of TweakUI and TweakUI will let you change a lot of
other things you may like. I just turn on my machine and come back in
a few minutes and I am looking at my swell desktop.

Get TweakUI here: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/Downloads/powertoys/Xppowertoys.mspx
Look on the right side of that page to download and install TweakUI,
or use google to find it. It will then show up under Programs,
Powertoys...

MS says that installing things like .NET framework 1.1 might cause
this logon thing to come up where it was not before, but some SP will
"fix" it or something. I think I read also that you do not want to
have the Admin account automatically logged on for some other reasons.
You can read about it.

Anyway, I like TweakUI for this and other things.

What you say is true, but what does it have to do with my message, to
which you replied?
