I've been using Nvidia cards in my main PC exclusively for the last couple
of years and the last ATI card I bought was the X800XL. Just ordered a 4870
so will be booting the 8800GT out of my main PC very soon. This will be on
Vista64 so hope the drivers don't give me any issues in games. Does ATI
still use that bloated Catalyst GUI that I always hated or have they
designed something more sleek recently?

Same bloated Catalyst GUI I am afraid....

I haven't had my 3870 9 months yet and I already want to upgrade to
the 4870. I think I will wait for November - December and hope I can
save a few dollars waiting out the initial rush. It boggles my mind
thinking of having 1.2 tera-flops in a graphics card in my computer.
I also read that the crossfire bridge will work across a 4870-3870
combination for more speed.

I've only had my 8800GT about six months and am already upgrading to 4870.
It's just too good of a deal to pass up. I have a Crossfire mb but I've
read that dual cards causes micro-stuttering in games so don't think I want
to go that route. Dual cards also means 2X heat output and 2X power
consumption. I prefer to stick to single cards. Some games have issues with
dual cards also.

Please let us know how this card performs and your usage impressions of
it; I'll confess to being a big amd fan and want this to succeed, but like
you my last ati card was a 9800pro! Run 3dmark and various games and
repost!
