Weird Windows Explorer and Media player hangs

I am getting constant Windows explorer hangs when I try to right click a file
or to use a keyboard shortcut to it (like ctrl-c). This happens on local
drives as well as mapped network drives. Also, when I start Mediaplayer 11,
it shows a blank screen instead of Library and freezes After 3 to 5 minutes,
it finally shows the library. I think these 2 issues are linked: when
Mediaplayer 11 finally gets to work, the Windows explorer problems disappears.

Any idea what's going on?

Try opening event viewer for specific OS errors/warnings.Click on the url in
one,this opens help/support knowlege-base,usually with a fix or answer..

Thanks for the tip - the event viewer pointed to a problem with my DVD drive
- there was disk inside that I forgot was there. Once the disk was removed,
everything became OK.
